Supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and families in Saline, MI
We are an advocacy group seeking to make Saline a more positive and welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ individuals and families.
Mission
To ensure Saline Area Schools (SAS) and the Saline community are safe, supportive and welcoming of all people, including 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and their families, encompassing all intersecting identities.
Vision
We envision a school district and community where all students —including all 2SLGBTQIA+ students — can thrive both academically and socially, and fully benefit from the myriad of opportunities in SAS.
Objectives
Work with Local Government
Work closely with the schools, the city and the townships, providing resources and support to help those institutions better serve their LGBTQ+ students, constituents and families
Serve as a Resource for the LGBTQ+ Community
Provide needed resources and support directly to LGBTQ+ students and community members
Organize Affirming Events
Host positive, affirming, fun events for LGBTQ+ residents and those who love and support them
Promote Public Education on LGBTQ+ Issues
Provide resources and host events to educate the public about issues facing LGBTQ+ community members
Support Marginalized and Underrepresented Groups in Saline
Work with local groups/organizations that support other marginalized and underrepresented populations in the area, in order to create partnerships and synergies that will benefit the whole community
Stand Up and Speak Out
When necessary, speak out at board meetings and/or council meetings, and rally the community to stand up for the rights, safety and dignity of its LGBTQ+ members.
